Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde could be banned for up to 12 games for punching Villarreal’s Alex Baena.
The Spanish FA’s competition committee (an independent disciplinary body) will investigate the incident from Wednesday.
Valverde and Baena will be called on to give evidence following the confrontation which occurred after Real’s 3-2 defeat by Villarreal on April 8.
Real’s Uruguay international will serve a domestic ban ranging from a minimum of four games to a maximum of 12 games if he is found guilty.

“After the event, some statements allegedly made by his entourage came to light, in which it was said that I had wished for the death of a family member.
