Derby ease to victory at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship Agyemang scores either side of break for dominant Rams Thompson slots in from edge of area to put visitors 2-0 up Owls are bottom of the Championship and remain 29 points from the safety line Wednesday have had 18 points deducted this season Derby climb to 12th and four points outside top six Kate Holloway Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Ed Dawes BBC Radio Derby commentator That was poor from Rhian Brewster. He hit that shot so wide. He had two players in a central position but the desperation stakes hit him. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Derby's Rhian Brewster gets a golden opportunity up front after Ben Brereton Diaz sets him up but the striker gets his strike all wrong to send it well wide of the target. Bad miss, that. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Harry Amass' forward pass up to Bailey Cadamarteri delights the home crowd, looping high and long above the bodies from the right corner flag way into his attacking half. Unfortunately, the young striker isn't the first to get on the ball and any chance of scoring dissipates, but it's a nice idea. Amass has come under criticism from Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim as of late and the loanee seems keen on proving the Portuguese manager wrong tonight. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Dom Howson Co-commentator on BBC Radio Sheffield Can Sheffield Wednesday get Barry Bannan on the ball as much as possible so he can pull the strings? If ever a man needed a goal, it's Bailey Cadamarteri. The effort's been there, but he's lacking confidence. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Not a Wednesday fan but what has happened to this club is disgusting - they need help, not punishment. The fans don't deserve this. Ian - Macclesfield Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Sheffield Wednesday are the worst in the Championship when it comes to defending set pieces so Derby might fancy their chances as they pick up a free-kick in a promising area. The Rams have scored plenty of goals from set pieces this season, but it doesn't work out this time as the ball hits the wall and the hosts can launch a counter-attack. Luckily for the visitors though, the break is quickly quelled. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Eric Steele Former Derby and Man Utd goalkeeper on BBC Radio Derby Derby have got to be better on the ball. Sheffield Wednesday are there for the taking and are giving the ball away. Derby have just got to be at their best for five or 10 minutes. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Sheffield Wednesday look like they could be piercing the backline of Derby but it's not threading together just yet. There's been a few sloppy passes from the Owls but Sean Fusire's strike from outside the box isn't half bad. He works himself into space and lets it fly but it takes a deflection to go out for a corner. Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Rob Staton BBC Radio Sheffield There are about 4, 000 Derby fans here. Have your say using the Get Involved button Tonight could well be the match that Sheffield Wednesday's luck changes. They have stayed together and have held their own in all recent matches. Back at Hillsborough under the lights, could be the boost - the extra push - to get that elusive win. Absolutely no disrespect to Derby. Pete - Doncaster Sheff Wed 0-0 Derby Here we go. Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County (20: 00 GMT) Darren Robinson Former Derby coach on BBC Radio Derby Everything, on paper, points in the direction of the Rams. Sheffield Wednesday are significantly adrift, have the heaviest negative goal difference in the division and are 13 without a win. Games aren't played on paper and this is a banana skin, but also an opportunity. The games are coming thick and fast and it's a chance to pick up momentum. We've got to get the team gelled again. We haven't got that many individuals who are going to turn a game for us, so it's got to be a team effort. Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County (20: 00 GMT) Rhian Brewster is set for his first start for the Rams since October as he makes his return from injury as part of a double change from boss John Eustace. Callum Elder and Andi Weimann are available as substitutes, while Craig Forsyth comes in to complete the starting XI after seven Championship games on the bench. Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County (20: 00 GMT) Since a run of six wins that had Derby County fans dreaming of promotion challenges, things have not gone smoothly for the Rams. They've won just one of their following five (L3 D1) and interestingly enough, the first of those games saw top scorer Carlton Morris exit the field with an injury that takes him out until the New Year, while midfielder David Ozoh was sent to the recovery room during their last win over Blackburn Rovers the game prior. Is the dip in form and Morris' and Ozoh's absences a correlation or coincidental? Well, the Rams are scoring. They've found goals in all five of those matches, two of them coming from centre-back Sondre Langas. But it's clear that whatever had gotten Derby flying for that short spell has departed and now rather than aiming for the top six, they are getting lost in a crowded mid-table. Victory at Hillsborough against a side that has only won once all season would take the Rams to within four points of the play-offs and well clear of danger. Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County (20: 00 GMT) Rob Staton BBC Radio Sheffield Forty-eight hours ago I was on a beach in The Bahamas. Now I'm here, and kind of wondering what's gone wrong over the past two days. All jokes aside, we're here for another game which, I suspect, is just another for Sheffield Wednesday fans to tick off. There's not a great deal to be excited about. The main talking point is still about who's going to own the club, rather than anything on the pitch. If you're going to buy Sheffield Wednesday, it's going to require a huge amount of investment in terms of infrastructure, getting the training ground up to speed and buying players to get the club to a point to try to compete to get back in the Premier League one day in the future. Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County (20: 00 GMT) Wednesday will be without regular starter Yan Valery for the first time this Championship campaign as the right-back heads to AFCON to represent Tunisia. Sean Fusire comes back into the starting XI to fill the gap as the only change for the Owls. Patrick Agyemang has scored five goals in 17 league games for Derby Goals in either half from Patrick Agyemang and Liam Thompson's first Championship strike helped Derby cruise past rock bottom Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Agyemang capitalised on a Wednesday error to give the Rams the lead midway through the first half before Thompson doubled their lead after the break. Agyemang's second, from Rhian Brewster's half-cleared cross, put the game beyond doubt - if any existed - in the 62nd minute. Wednesday, who are 29 points from safety having had 18 deducted, mustered just one shot on target in what was the latest in a growing list of dispiriting displays. The Owls have now gone 14 games without a win and were fortunate to not suffer a heavier defeat on Monday. Derby have moved up to 12th in the table, with just their second win in six games, and are now four points outside the top six. The visitors took time to assert their dominance but pounced as Wednesday tried to play out from the back. Thompson intercepted a loose pass and poked the ball to Bobby Clark, who found Agyemang inside the box. With a clever shift of his weight, the striker created space outside Dom Iorfa and fired a low shot across the goalkeeper and into the bottom-right corner. Clark almost made it two but Wednesday captain Barry Bannan bravely headed away Ben Brereton Diaz's cross. Another chance soon followed as the hosts were again caught in possession deep in their own half but Clark fired well over the bar from the edge of the area. Derby continued to control the game after the break and Craig Forsyth's free-kick from the left was headed down to Thompson who took it down well, created a yard of space and steered a low shot into the bottom-left corner. A third soon followed as once more Wednesday lost possession in their own half, a ball down the left was well won by the strength of Brewster whose low cross was cleared only as far as Agyemang to finish high into the net from close range. Despite almost half an hour remaining, the third goal was enough to send Wednesday fans to the exits. They missed their side's only chance of the game as Bannan played in Svante Ingelsson, who turned well and shot powerfully with his left foot, but Jacob Widell Zetterstrom stood firm to deny him. The Rams could have added gloss to the scoreline as Wednesday wilted but were unable to find the final pass, while Pierce Charles' strong save from Kayden Jackson in the final few minutes kept the scoreline just about respectable. However, the table continues to make miserable viewing for Owls fans. They stay on minus nine points with just one league win all season, and have now conceded 40 goals in their 20 matches. They are yet to name a preferred bidder with new owners being sought and have been in administration since October. Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We started well, were more dominant on the ball, but we have spoken about playing direct and if they are more physical, then try to challenge them on the ground. "But we played two much on the front side and not enough in behind. The few times we did get in behind we started to become more dangerous. "We kept on going in the second half but after the second goal, the confidence went out of the boys and we fell away. " Derby County head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby: "I thought it was a great result, it was a really difficult game. Against Watford last week they were excellent so it's really pleasing to come here and get the result. "First half, we got into some fantastic positions on turnover and it was disappointing that we weren't clinical enough. "Really the game should have been out of sight first half but it was great to come out, get the two goals and we controlled the game in the second half. " After the opportunity to rate players has closed, the score displayed represents the average from all the submissions by BBC Sport users.
