They still have Bradford (on Tuesday) and Stockport to come here and a trip to Cardiff to boot in March. Burton have toppled some giants this season and made life hard for the Imps again tonight, but it's the three points that count. Thanks to Jack Moylan, Lincoln have them. .. FT: Lincoln 2-1 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire I think the celebrations were more relief that they got over the line, I think it was a case of getting the three points and getting over the line and that's what it was. They always say good teams, it doesn't matter how you win as long as you win. Not too much went right for Lincoln, a little bit of magic from Moylan and then following up on the spillage from the keeper, but they've got the three points and that's all that matters. They can win ugly and win when they're not at their best, and that is the sign of a good side, it puts pressure on the chasing pack, there's an impetus on the teams on Saturday to go and win. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Jack Moylan's double with goals in either half see Lincoln cut the deficit to league leaders Cardiff to just three points. The midfielder doubled his goal tally for the Imps this season tonight, scoring the winner after Brewers keeper Brad Collins spilled Freddie Draper's strike into free space for Moylan to pounce. The visitors will now have to wait to see what unfolds between Blackpool and Northampton at Bloomfield Road in two days time to see if their fate will be the bottom four. But as for Lincoln, they can go into their huge game against Bradford City on Tuesday confident and in winning form. Lincoln 2-1 Burton There are four more minutes added as Imps skipper Tendayi Darikwa is cautioned for flooring Jack Armer. There are also some warning being chucked towards the Burton dugout. No doubt, the frustration is beginning to boil over. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire There was a silence that went around the ground from a Lincoln point of view from that header from Sibbick. It's a great ball in, it's just got a little glance, not quite where he wanted to put it but it caused a silence around the ground, very close from Burton. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Burton ripple the net! But. . it's the wrong part as Toby Sibbick's effort can't quite find the angle to get the other side of the post. It's to be his last action of the night as he's soon replaced by the returning Tomas Kalinauskas for his first appearance for the Brewers this season. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Freddie Draper's hard effort on the right flank earns Lincoln a corner. It causes chaos in the box, looking more like a game of keepy-uppies than football. But Burton come out the better because it eventually finds it's way outside of the box. Good thing to because a third would have put the nail in the coffin for their evening. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Alex Hoad BBC Sport at LNER Stadium 'Now you're gonna believe us, the Imps are going up' chorus the home faithful. Well, if they can hold on here they will be six points ahead of Bradford, in third, and can sit back and watch the Bantams slug it out with Huddersfield on Saturday lunchtime before Graham Alexander's side head here on Tuesday night for a huge game. Warm applause for Alfie Lloyd as he makes his Imps debut off the bench. How key could his arrival be for the promotion push? 19 games left after tonight. Lincoln 2-1 Burton It'll be a debut for Lincoln's winter signing Alfie Lloyd. The forward joined on loan from Queens Park Rangers on Monday. What can he do on his first impression? Rob Street makes way. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire Lincoln are looking to consolidate and go to the defensive side rather than the attacking side, they're getting into that defensive shape, nothing goes in behind you and if it does then Ryley Towler is there to sweep. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Burton respond with a substitution of their own. Fabio Tavares is introduced with a job to do in place of Kain Adom. Lincoln 2-1 Burton That's it for Jack Moylan. He'll have to settle for his double. He and team-mate Reeco Hackett are withdrawn for the hosts to make room for Dom Jefferies and Ryley Towler. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Freddie Drapper is tripped up in a very scrappy challenge and wins a free-kick in sight of goal for Lincoln. At first, it looks as if Reeco Hackett is going to take. He makes a run up to the ball but as he reaches it, he backs off. He's just teasing as Jack Moylan storms forward for the delivery to try and claim a hat-trick. His curling effort avoids the wall but also the net, heading wide. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire Lincoln just keep dropping deeper and deeper and every time we clear the ball it comes straight back at us, there's no focal point. Freddie Draper is dropping deep, we need that outlet to get a hold of the ball because it just keeps coming back. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Burton are stringing together some promising cross into that penalty box but so far, they are only finding Lincoln feet. Could they be beginning their comeback? They need to find something. They've not offered much for their travelling support to get stuck into since the start of this half. No. The whistle is blown for a foul in the box but the delivery is straight into the keepers hands anyway. As you were. Lincoln 2-1 Burton An hour on the clock now and this game has gone a little quiet since that second Lincoln goal. That'll please the home faithful just fine. Burton boss Gary Bowyer though, much less so. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Alex Hoad BBC Sport at LNER Stadium Jack Moylan had only scored two goals before tonight this season, he's now got two more in 20 minutes. It's all down to his instinct to follow in the shot from Freddie Draper, which Brad Collins couldn't hold. Lincoln's mascot is named Poacher, and he'd be proud of that finish. Lincoln 2-1 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire Great anticipation following the run, great play on the outside, Moylan slips it into Draper, his snap shot is too much to handle for the keeper, Moylan followed it in and dinks it over the keeper. It comes from that intricate passing, when they keep it short you can see the opportunities to pass it through the lines, none of this long ball, just keep it short. Jack Moylan had only scored once in 12 league appearances for the Imps this season before his double Lincoln closed the gap on League One leaders Cardiff to three points with a hard-fought win against struggling Burton at the LNER Stadium. Most of the action in a largely forgettable first half was crammed into 120 seconds as Jack Moylan fizzed a beauty from 25 yards in off the post to put the hosts ahead on 35 minutes, only for Jake Beesley to tuck home a close-range volley two minutes later. Moylan then pounced to score what turned out to be the winner 10 minutes after the break, poking home after Brad Collins had spilled Freddie Draper's shot. The win took the Imps six points clear of third-placed Bradford in the promotion race, with the Bantams facing Huddersfield on Saturday before heading to Lincoln on Tuesday for a potentially huge showdown. The Imps had a chance inside four minutes as the ball broke to Reeco Hackett following a long throw but he could only lash the wrong side of Collins' upright from close range. Both sides saw penalty appeals waved away before Rob Street's attempt to loop a header over Collins after a weak clearance from Udoka Godwin-Malife was clawed away by the keeper. The Imps went ahead when Moylan strode forward and fired in a brilliant swerving shot which flew past Collins and in off the base of his left post. The lead lasted just two minutes as Jack Armer swung in a cross from the left and defender Sonny Bradley allowed the ball to run beyond him where Beesley was lurking to tuck home a first-time effort from barely two yards out. The Brewers finished the first half on top and began the second the brighter until the Imps restored their lead on 55 minutes when Moylan slid the ball to Draper, whose low angled shot was spilled by Collins, with Moylan continuing his run to beat the keeper to the loose ball and poke home. Moylan came close to a hat-trick with a curling free-kick 15 minutes from time though the hosts had a fright when Brewers defender Toby Sibbick flashed a near-post header into the side-netting with three minutes to go.
