The former Manchester City, Tottenham and Celtic goalkeeper has become regular on the punditry circuit since retiring from football in 2024. He worked for the BBC at Euro 2024, where he received attention and praise from viewers for his perfect posture as he analysed matches from pitchside. Hart has become a regular on both radio and television for the broadcaster, including punditry stints on their flagship highlights show Match of the Day. During an appearance as a guest on Stick to Cricket, former England captain Michael Vaughan asked Hart about the unusual way he analyses matches in preparation for the show. ‘Is that right that on Match of the Day on a Saturday or Sunday, you sit on the floor all day, ’ Vaughan asked. "I'll sit on the floor all day"Why does Joe Hart take his posture so serious? ? pic. twitter. com/2TEJztcav H Joe Hart confirmed he prepares for Match of the Day by watching matches sat on the floor Hart confirmed his unusual method, with the 38-year-old revealing it had been a habit that he had maintained from childhood that makes him feel comfortable. ‘Yeah, it took me a while to do it because you have to kind of act like you are normal for a bit and then everyone gets your personality, ' Hart said. 'I did it in the summer when I started straight away in the Euros doing the radio, we were in like compact rooms and I just plonked on the floor because it is where I am at my comfiest and where I can relax. ’ David Lloyd then asked Hart: ‘Nothing to do with you having a bad back or anything. ' Hart responded: 'A little bit, but just from young if I was at home and we had like sofas in the front room and watching TV, I would always go on the floor. ‘I still do it to this day. ’ Unsurprisingly, Hart's method for watching games does not extend to how he provides analysis, with the former goalkeeper reverting to chairs during Match of the Day. He had previously admitted paying attention to how he stands and sits, when he was asked about fan comments about his posture during Euro 2024. ‘I’ve got a long thoracic [vertebrae] and to look after that I have to sit big and strong, ’ Hart told the BBC. Hart previously earned praise from fans, who highlighted the former goalkeeper's strong posture ‘I like being tall, I like being proud, I like feeling strong so that’s how I see it. ‘That’s just what I do. ‘I understand in the modern generation you can get slumped, but as soon as I feel slumped I don’t like it, I feel disgusting. ‘I like to stand big and tall, sit big and tall, it makes me feel confident. ’
