By HARRY BAMFORTH, LIVE SPORTS COVERAGE REPORTER and IAN LADYMAN, FOOTBALL EDITOR Updated: 00: 01 AEST, 15 September 2025 127 View comments Follow Daily Mail Sport's live blog for the latest score, team news and updates as Liverpool travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the Premier League, with Ian Ladyman reporting from the ground.   Milos Kerkez has not had the best start to life at Liverpool. He didn't play particularly well in their opening two games, and although he seems to have settled in at last against Arsenal, he had yet another stinker here. A dive, a yellow card, and a few ropey challenges saw him hooked by Arne Slot in the 38th minute. Pretty rough. To be subbed before the break when you are not injured is never a good feeling for a footballer; it's a real low point. Have we just seen the Hungarian lose his starting spot? So far, so good for Burnley. .. not so much for Liverpool, though. The visitors have had much of the ball, but haven't really caused Burley any problems at Turf Moor. It seems like that if they are going to win, they will have to do it the hard way again. Erm. .. what was that blown for? Florian Wirtz looks like he is going to shoot, but plays a lovely ball to the back stick for Hugo Ekitike to attack. The Frenchman is just as surprised as everybody else to see the ball come his way, and doesn't react quickly enough. The whistle is then blown when he does get to ti, and I have no idea why. There will be three minutes of stoppage time here. I'm pretty sure both sides will want the break to come so that they can regroup. Oooooft. .. that's close. Hugo Ekitike finally bursts into life and stretches those long legs of his to race away down the left. He then goes to slide a dangerous low ball across the box, and it very nearly creeps into the back of the net at the far post. What a goal that would have been. Poor Milos Kerkez. The defender is hooked before the break after what has been a pretty poor performance. Andy Robertson replaces him and then nearly scores with his very first touch, but Martin Dubravka denies him. Imagine the scenes had that gone in. What has happened to Mohamed Salah? He gets on the ball for what feels like the first time in this game, which tells you everything you need to know. He then proceeds to produce an absolutely honking cross that goes miles out of play. He is really struggling this season. Well, well, well. .. Arne Slot has obviously seen enough of Milos Kerkez's mad streak and is getting Andy Robertson ready on the bench. Subbed before half-time. .. rough. Milos Kerkez is having a stinker again. The Hungarian has dived, is on a yellow, and has just committed a rather rough foul to deny Jaidon Anthony breaking away. He needs to be real careful. Liverpool have really lost their rhythm in the last few minutes. Oh, wait a minute, just as I stay that they start causing Burnley problems again. Dominik Szoboszlai ends the move by trying to score a silly goal, and it ends up hitting row Z. And guess what? The 'wheyyyyys' are out. Scott Parker is pumped up, so pumped up. Lyle Foster wins a throw-in, and the Burnley coach screams in delight before high-fiving the forward. He looks like he wants to get on the pitch himself and start snapping into challenges himself. Ryan Gravenberch is a joke, my word. The Liverpool midfielder is having an absolute blinder, playing some lovely flicks and tricks to get out of crowds of players. He has just produced a ridiculous little chip to knock the ball over a Burley player and set Liverpool away. Silly, so silly. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Milos Kerkez, that's shocking. The full-back gets the slightest of touches in the box and goes down like a sack of potatoes. Michael Oliver takes no time at all to hand him a yellow card, and that is fully deserved. Oh dear. .. There are ironic cheers from the away end as Jaidon Anthony plays one of the worst crosses I have seen for a long time. He slices the ball when down on the left, and it only bounces a few yards before going out for a goal kick. Yep, not great. There are some fans booing Alexis Mac Allister for receiving treatment on his ankle. I mean, if they had a replay of teh challenge, they would soon go quiet. Mac Allister then gets up and ambles into position, rather than going to the sidelines, and this ground goes mental. They are not a happy bunch, these Burnley fans. Ohhhhhh, that is not a good challenge. .. really not good. Alexis Mac Allister is in a heap on the floor after Lesley Ugochukwu catches him with his studs on the follow-through of a challenge. That's an orange card for me, if they existed, but a yellow is the card of choice from the ref. A few inches higher, and that's a red. Liverpool are causing Burnley real problems from corners. Yet another one causes chaos in the six-yard box, and Burnley are scrambling to get the ball clear. Eventually, they survive, but you feel these set-pieces may get the better of them soon. Liverpool is starting to take control here. Oh my. .. how is it not 1-0? Ibrahima Konate gets his head on a corner three yards out, and surely he has to score. But no, the Frenchman can't get his head over the ball and it flies over the bar. That's a real chance, that. You know when I said Liverpool looked laid back in the warm-up, well, it appears that they are not at the races. Virgil van Dijk gives the ball away at the back, and it allows Burnley to pounce on the Reds' backline. The ball ends with Jaidon Anthony, and he has a dig, but his effort flies just past the post. A positive sign for the hosts. Oh dear. .. It's only been five minutes and Liverpool are already resorting to having a crack from distance. Surely it's a bit early for that, no? Cody Gapo tries to do his classic effort, cutting inside and having a dig, but I'm pretty sure the ball is on its way to Mars. Guys, this could be a tough watch. Look, I know it's only been a few minutes, but the pattern of this game has already become clear. Liverpool are having all the ball, Burnley are sitting back and trying to counter. The visitors are going to have to be very patient today. Phoar, that Liverpool kit is so nice. Honestly, I may have changed my mind; it might even be better than Chelsea's third strip. The colour is beautiful, so is the new style of badge. Adidas have absolutely smashed it. It's a shame we won't see it played in often. Well, this is some interesting build-up music. I can't even describe the genre that is being played as the teams take to their positions. It's interesting, to say the least. Anyway, the music has cut off now, and we are off at Turf Moor. Fair play, this is a proper atmosphere. The players emerge from the tunnel with the wind swirling around Turf Moor, and they are greeted by a cauldron of noise. Turf Moor isn't always the most lively ground when it comes to atmosphere, but they have started this super Sunday on top form. They even drown out the Premier League anthem, which is class. It will be interesting to see how long they can keep this level of noise up, though. If they score early, I imagine this place will be rocking. Concede, though, and silence. As long as there are goals, I'm happy. Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender, on Sky Sports: Guys, summer is well and truly behind us. It's a rather grim day up in Lancashire; it's cloudy, cold, windy, and wet. All of the worst weather conditions at once. It feels like just last week we were all bathing in the glorious sunshine and wearing t-shirts and shorts. But as if by a click of the fingers, the weather in this country has changed. I hope fans at Turf Moor have their layers on. Scott Parker, Burnley manager, on Sky Sports: On losing 9-0 loss to Liverpool three years ago: Mohamed Salah is so nonchalant, isn't he? The winger has just been doing keepy-ups during the warm-up, and he looks so relaxed doing them. The whole Liverpool side looks rather laid back, in fact. I'm not sure whether that is a good or bad sign for them. If they think this game is going to be easy, they have another thing coming. Micah Richards, former Man City defender, speaking about Ricky Hatton on Sky Sports: This may be a football blog, but I simply have to post about Ricky Hatton. In the last couple of hours, the news sadly broke that the boxing legend has died at the age of 46. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: 'Officers were called by a member of the public to attend Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at 6: 45am today where they found the body of a 46-year-old man. There are not currently believed to be any suspicious circumstances. ' It really is devastating news. There was only one Ricky Hatton, and his legacy will always live on. There will be a minute's applause for Hatton ahead of the Manchester derby later. RIP, Ricky. Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender, on Sky Sports: I imagine that the Liverpool fans currently travelling to Turf Moor will be feeling pretty confident. They have some happy memories from within that stadium. Liverpool have won eight of their nine away Premier League matches at Turf Moor against Burnley (L1), winning the last six in a row. The Reds have won seven away top-flight games in a row against three teams previously: West Brom (8 between 1983 and 2009), Norwich (8 between 1995 and 2021) and Crystal Palace (7 between 2016 and 2022). Can they make it nine from 10? Chris Sutton, former Chelsea striker, on BBC Sport: Liverpool have had the perfect start to the season. Well, in terms of results they have. Performance-wise, they have left a lot to be desired, but that doesn't matter when you are winning games, I guess. The Premier League champions are looking to win their opening four Premier League matches in a season for a third time, also doing so in 2018-19 (finished 2nd) and 2019-20 (won the title). It would be the third time in a row the reigning top-flight champions have won their first four games (also Man City in 2023-24 and 2024-25), the first time ever in top-flight history that’s happened. Can they bag another three points and go top of the league? Phoar. .. This isn't the best picture, but trust me when I tell you that Liverpool's third kit is one of the nicest I have ever seen. No lie. The only one that may be nicer this season is Chelsea's third strip - that one is also a beaut. The Premier League champions are debuting their new strip at Turf Moor, and I can't wait to see it in action. I can't lie, I kind of want one. .. (that is not me revealing that I am a Liverpool fan) Harry Redknapp, former Tottenham manager, speaking to Bet Victor: I was about to say that there wasn't a smile in sight, but then I looked at Arne Slot's picture again. He is one happy chappy, isn't he? Slot's players, though? They look focused - hella focused - as they arrive at Turf Moor. They will want a nice run of the mill win today, that's for sure. Here is the confirmation. There is no Alexander Isak in Liverpool's squad whatsoever; he has been left on Merseyside after his £125million move. Arne Slot has not made a single change to the side that beat Arsenal before the break, which means Dominik Szoboszlai stays at right-back. Jeremie Frimpong returns to the bench. The Clarets' line-up is here. Scott Parker has made a couple of changes from the side that fell to defeat in Manchester a couple of weeks ago. Loum Tchaouna and Josh Laurent both come in. By Harry Bamforth Ooooh, now this is interesting. I had a post prepped and ready to go about whether Alexander Isak was going to feature today. Well, it's useless now. There was no sign of the Swede when the Liverpool team bus arrived, so I think that gives us our answer. Liverpool fans may just have to wait a little longer for Isak to pull on their beloved red shirt. I mean, he had no pre-season, so it makes sense. By Harry Bamforth Right then, before we get stuck into the build-up, shall we look back at what happened yesterday? I mean, I said it was a little boring, and these results prove my point. Look at all the low-scoring results. .. Here are the full results from Saturday: By Harry Bamforth How are we all feeling? It's not often Premier League Saturdays are as stacked as yesterday was - it was a full day of action. Sadly, that action wasn't exactly the best. Well, the 3pm's certainly weren't. But here is to hoping today is much better in terms of entertainment. There is a blockbuster Manchester derby for us to look forward to later today, but first, all eyes are on Turf Moor as Liverpool look to jump back to the summit as they take on Burnley. I assume many of you will think that this will be an easy dub (or win for those of you who are over the age of 30) for the Reds, and on paper, it should be a straightforward afternoon for them. But football isn't played on paper, is it? This is one of those games that could easily be a sticky one for the Premier League champions. Either way, I'm just hoping it's a fun watch. Shall we get this rollercoaster of an afternoon rolling, then? I think we shall! Couldn't make it up, Mr Corrupt himself, Michael O. ..
