According to journalist Christian Falk, Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi. The 21-year-old has 17 goals and five assists in 48 appearances in all competitions so far this season, including three goals in the Champions League proper, and one in qualifying. Falk reports that Arsenal are “seriously interested and talks are underway. ” The young forward is eligible for all of Italy, Germany and Argentina, but Falk told Caught Offside that: “He seems to be the future of Germany in the striker position. ” Tresoldi was previously with German side Hannover 96, but moved to Club Brugge last summer in a deal worth around €7m, with a contract running until 2029.
In Four Four Two’s opinion, this may threaten Havertz and Jesus’s future at Arsenal: Gyokeres still has plenty to prove, but he has not been poor enough to consider selling after a single season, and crucially, he has been available. That means he’d probably work well in rotation with Tresoldi, whereas Jesus and Havertz are regularly unavailable, and may be viewed by the money managers as wasted funds, better to get off the books.
